How Totes and Carts work
Use totes and carts to organize physical work while inventory moves through the warehouse.

What they represent
- A tote is a reusable physical container for products or order lines.
- A cart is a movable unit for one or more totes or work items.
- They organize physical custody; they do not replace shipment, order, or inventory records.
Typical workflow
- Create or select the tote or cart for the work batch.
- Assign it to the pick batch, order, or warehouse task.
- Scan or verify products as they enter the physical container.
- Move it to the next station and update the handoff status.
- Close or return it after work is complete.
Control
Use a unique label or barcode for each tote and cart. If one is lost, damaged, or reused, update its physical status before assigning it to new work.
