How to create a cross-dock shipment
Create a cross-dock request and use the correct FBA or Walmart inventory source.
Menus and actions depend on your workspace, plan and permissions. Use the onboarding guide for current navigation. Provider setup and fees may apply; confirm the configured workflow before a transaction.
What cross-dock means
A cross-dock shipment moves inventory through the warehouse for a specific downstream shipment. The warehouse receives or identifies the inventory, performs the requested work, and sends it to the final marketplace destination.
Choose the correct inventory source
- For an FBA cross-dock, create the request from FBA inventory.
- For a Walmart cross-dock, create the request from Walmart inventory.
- Do not use Walmart inventory for FBA or FBA inventory for Walmart. The source controls the available shipment, identifiers, and downstream records.
Create the request
- Open the cross-dock workflow and select the destination marketplace.
- Select FBA inventory for Amazon or Walmart inventory for Walmart.
- Select inventory and quantities.
- Choose prep or forwarding only.
- Add destination shipment details, save the draft, review it, and submit it.
Prep versus forwarding
Choose prep when the warehouse must label, re-pack, bundle, inspect, or otherwise prepare the units. Choose forwarding when the units are already ready for the destination and the warehouse only needs to handle movement and shipment completion.
